Job summary

The Certified Ophthalmic Technician is responsible to assist ophthalmologists by performing various duties appropriate for their licensure level that are essential for patient care and so that patients receive the highest standard of service.Obtain patient medical history and perform vision screenings.Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, OCT, refractions, and fundus photography.Prepare patients for eye exams and surgical procedures.Assist ophthalmologists during examinations as needed.Administer eye drops and medications as outlined in RCW i.Maintain equipment and supplies.Educate patients on post-care instructions and follow-up appointments.Document patient records and communicate findings to ophthalmologists.
  • Attend clinical staff meetings.
  • Maintain BLS standards.
