The Hospital
San Joaquin General Hospital (SJGH) founded in 1857 is a general acute care facility offering various services including General Medical/Surgical Care, High-Risk Obstetrics and Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatrics and Intensive Care. Apart from the 196-bed hospital, the medical campus houses multiple facilities catering to comprehensive outpatient services like Primary Care and Specialty Clinics. The Hospital's Ambulatory Care sites, with offices located at French Camp and Stockton, cater to over 1,340,000 outpatient clinic visits annually.
Involved in not just providing direct medical assistance, the hospital also plays an active role in educating health professionals through post-graduate residency programs like General Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Family Practice, having trained over 3,000 physicians since 1932.
Diagnostics Imaging Department
San Joaquin General Hospital stands out as a public hospital certified by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center. The hospital's Certified Stroke Program holds recognition from the American Heart & Stroke Association and has garnered the Gold Plus Award. SJGH serves as the designated Level III Trauma Center for San Joaquin County.
The Diagnostics Imaging Department encompasses seven specialties: Radiography, CT Scan, MRI, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography, and Interventional Radiology. Additionally, the department runs a Radiologic Technology training program. Services are delivered in a culturally sensitive, community-driven, empathetic manner with a strong focus on patient confidentiality and customer service.
Recruitment
This recruitment aims to fill four (4) full-time vacancies in the Radiology Department at San Joaquin General Hospital and create a list of eligible candidates for future openings. Potential new hires for these positions must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. The County covers the cost of the initial drug screening.

Incentives and bonuses
$2,000 after completion of the first year (2,080 hours)
$1,000 upon completion of the third year (6,240 hours)
$3,000 post the sixth year (12,480 hours)
TYPICAL DUTIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Eighteen months in radiographic work.
Substitution: Completion of the San Joaquin General Hospital School of Radiologic Technology can substitute six months of required experience.
Licenses and Certificates: Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and certification by the Department of Health, State of California, as a Radiologic Technologist. Possession of a State of California Certification in mammography or a State of California fluoroscopy permit might be necessary.
KNOWLEDGE
Methods and techniques of diagnostic radiography; anatomical positions used in radiography; care and use of radiographic equipment; safety practices to prevent radiation overexposure.
ABILITY
Sit and/or stand for extended periods, administer procedures, operate equipment, lift patients, interact effectively with medical staff and patients' families, follow instructions meticulously, maintain records, and establish positive relationships.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
From mobility to visual capabilities, manual dexterity, and emotional considerations, the role demands various physical and mental attributes to ensure effective performance.
