Responsible for a variety of customer service and security related duties that include providing information and assistance to visitors, employees, and staff; patrolling areas to detect security, safety and/or fire hazards; securing buildings; enforcing parking regulations; controlling access to buildings and parking lots; responding to calls for service; and assisting local authorities in times of emergency.JOB DUTIES

    • Demonstrates proficiency and knowledge in an administrative or technical area. Applies acquired job skills and ERCOT policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks and expand skills.
    • Works on assignments that are usually within an area of expertise that are semi-routine in nature. Applies knowledge and understanding to resolve most problems and issues but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice.
    • Able to manage and handle situations of a sensitive nature and maintain company's confidentiality and information security practices (medical record, personnel issues, investigations, public relations incidents, emergency personnel contact information, etc.).
    • Normally follows established procedures on routine work and requires instructions on new and/or complex assignments.
    • May provide informal guidance to lower level colleagues.
    ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES
    • Control access of personnel, materials and vehicles
    • Process security access of visitors
    • Operate radios, telephones and computer equipment
    • Must pass a dexterity test that evaluates static grip, dynamic lifting and carpal tunnel motions to determine ability to operate radio controls, buttons, switches, dials, keyboards, computer mouse to communicate effectively in case of an emergency
    • Monitor alarm system and CCTV equipment
    • Perform security patrols and observe any and all activity at assigned post
    • Provide first responder services as needed
    • Must be able to perform a "dummy drag" that simulates dragging a 150 pound victim 30' away from fire or other physical danger
    • Must complete a controlled obstacle course that demonstrates ability to move and negotiate around furniture, people and doors, in an emergency response
    • Must pass a 1⁄2 mile run under six (6) minutes within a maximum heart rate assessment in order to respond to an emergency from one side of the campus to the other and be capable of rendering assistance
    • Report equipment malfunctions that could have adverse impact to security, safety or operations
    • Deter criminal activity, misconduct and safety violations
    • Interact with ERCOT employees, contractors and visitors at ERCOT facilities with courtesy and professionalism
    • Be available to provide security services at other ERCOT locations as needed
    • Compose reports
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
    • Requires minimum 2 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements
    • Requires minimum 2 years physical security experience or 4 years combined experience in either law enforcement, security, corrections or military capacity
    • Prefer minimum 2 years experience working in a Global Security Operations Center (GSOC)
    Salary and level will be based on overall experience as determined by ERCOT.OTHER REQUIREMENTS
    • Provide DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated if applicable
    • Pass a physical abilities test in accordance with the Security Training and Qualification Plan
    • Pass State-required training or other qualifications for licensing
    • Must be able to pass periodic physical fitness tests demonstrating the ability to meet heavy physical demands such as patrolling, performing emergency response/rescue functions, and apprehending/detaining violators
    EDUCATION
    • High School Diploma or GED (Required) or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
