    Description

    BMG located in Beaverton, MI has a Welder position opportunity Our Welders set-up, tack and finish weld complicated fabrications where dimensions, fit-up and distortion control are prime factors.

    They have experience in reading and understanding prints, weld symbols and designations. This is a 1st shift position (7:00 am - 3:30 pm).


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Receive work assignments.
    • Check drawings and process sheets for validity. If error is found, contact Team Leader or Crew Leader.
    • Perform set-up, assemble and tack weld all items as a unit making sure that pieces are of correct size, quantity, type of material and that holes are drilled, if required.
    • Self-check quality of product.
    • Finish welding part to tolerance specified on blueprint.
    • Operate a Fork Truck.
    EDUCATION/


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • A minimum of a High school diploma or GED
    • Three years related experience in welding in a manufacturing environment preferred.
    • Ability to read blueprints.
    • Basic math skills.
    • Have a working knowledge of: 300 & 500 amp wire welders, spot welders, solid and cored wire, Argon and CO2, hand grinders, hand flame cutting torch, crane, tape measure, square, scribe, clamps, hand tools.
    • Have a working knowledge of the following materials as well as knowledge of welder settings required for different material & application (amp setting & feed settings): CR & HR plates & bar stock, stainless steel, aluminum, stainless steel bar stock and sheets, and various other sizes of sheared, cut and rolled material.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Lift, push, and pull up 35 to 50 lbs. occasionally.
    • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
    • Walk or stand for extended periods of time.
    • May work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion.
    • Must be able to access and navigate within each department at the organization's facilities (i.e. climb stairs, ladders, etc.)
