    Description
    KINGSBURG ELEMENTARY CHARTER SCHOOL DISTRICT SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

    Primary Function:
    Administers therapy to children for remediation and improvement of communicative disorders in the areas of articulation, language, fluency, and voice, and performs such other duties as are consistent with the policies of the Governing Board


    Directly Responsible to:
    Site Principal and Director,

    Special Education Assigned Responsibilities:

    • Identifies speech, language and hearing handicapped children through survey or screening and referrals.
    • Diagnoses or assesses students through appropriate tests and conferences.
    • Establishes priorities for remediation of handicapped children.
    • Schedules cases to receive either individual or group therapy.
    • Administers therapy for handicappedprocedures being aimed toward correction or improvement of the disability.
    • Initiates conferences with parents, teachers and support services personnel, and provides coordination of these services.
    • Maintains, prepares and submits records, individual progress reports, state reports and other records and reports as required by the district.
    • Evaluates and makes final determination of each child's status in the program.
    • Performs periodic follow-up of selected cases to determine stability.
    • Performs other duties normally required to be performed by a speech therapist as an adjunct to the regular duties.
    • Maintains proper classroom control and a suitable learning environment

    Qualifications:

    Required Credential:

    Clinical Rehabilitative Services Credential:
    Language, Speech and Hearing.

    • Appropriate course work and educational preparation necessary for providing therapy to students with communicative disorders.
    • Philosophy and educational standards of excellence consistent with those of the district and community.
    • Relates positively to young people.
    • Appearance, grooming and personality characteristics to be consistent with the district's standards for setting a desirable example for pupils
