    The UVA Medical Center is seeking experienced Surgical Technologist as well as new graduates, or those who are currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technologist Training Program to join our award-winning interdisciplinary team within our 600+ bed Academic University Medical Center.

    Here, you will be joining a team of nationally recognized physicians, nurses, surgeons, and specialists known for their quality of care, positive outcomes, innovative treatments, technologies, and research.

    Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to gathering needed supplies and instrumentation for surgical procedures according to the surgeon preference card. Maintains the sterile field and anticipating the needs of the surgical team. Is constantly vigilant to the adherence of aseptic technique by all team members.

    • Differentiates between sterile and unsterile items processed by various sterilization methods.
    • Demonstrates a basic level of surgical case preparation by reviewing the surgeon preference card and case cart, gathering surgical instruments, supplies and equipment needed for general surgical procedures.
    • Provides safe patient care at a basic level.
    • Demonstrates principles of aseptic technique and sterile conscience.
    • Has basic knowledge of surgical procedures and patient anatomy.
    • Demonstrates awareness of environmental safety practices for patient, self and team at all times.
    • Able to take specialty certification exam upon completion of accredited surgical technology program.
    Position Compensation Range: $ $32.05 Hourly

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Education: HS Diploma or equivalent. Graduated from accredited Surgical Technologist Training Program.

    Licensure: Current Registration with Virginia Board of Medicine required at the time of hire. BLS required.

    Experience: No experience required

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    Job requires standing for prolonged periods; Repetitive motion: passing instruments, lifting heavy instrument sets. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > lbs. May be exposed to cold, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
