    SALARY: $49,638.36-$92, DOE)

    Hiring Bonus: All new hire teachers that are properly licensed and endorsed (meaning- not on an emergency license, restricted license, or with a conditional assignment endorsement) will receive the signing bonus. For staff that are not properly licensed or endorsed, they shall receive the bonus once properly licensed/endorsed (within three years of hire) and will be paid as defined below as much as possible. This bonus will not be extended to current District teachers or former District teachers (including retirees) who left the district in the last five years. The signing bonus will be paid in three payments: Year one (1): $2,500; Year two (2): $1,500; and Year three (3) $1,000.

    Insurance: Generous Health, dental, and vision contribution from the district, currently up to $2,130 (based upon family coverage), TBD for

    PERS Retirement: The district assumes and pays the 6% average employee contribution to the Oregon PERS system.

    SCHEDULE: 190 Days + 3 days new teacher inservice

    Requirements:

    Bachelor's degree or higher. Masters in School Counseling is preferred. Must be approved by ODE as a Child Development Specialist.

    Primary Function:
    • To guide students in behavior and social development. Specifically supporting students for various reasons including (but not limited to): emotion recognition and regulation, social skills, behavioral concerns, family life, grief support, and life transitions.
    • To consult with students, teachers and parents to identify developmental needs and design prevention or intervention activities in order to guide and help students be successful.
    • To implement guidance and initiatives according to learning theories and the educational philosophy of the school.
    • To utilize leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, in order to promote student success, provide preventive services, and respond to identified student needs by implementing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, career, and personal/social development for all students.
    • Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations, this position is considered a safety sensitive position.
    ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Support the district's SEL curriculum through support of classroom units and infusion in content areas.
    • Work with individuals and small groups of students based on student needs. This includes but is not limited to helping students with social-emotional learning, self-regulation, anger management, social skills, grief support, stress management, and strategies to promote success in school.
    • Consult with teachers, staff and parents regarding the developmental needs of students.
    • Refer students and families to appropriate program specialists or community agencies.
    • Participate in, coordinate and conduct activities that contribute to the effective operation of the counseling program and school.
    • Participate in and facilitate the intervention team process.
    • Plan and evaluate the building's SEL program.
    • Pursue continuous professional growth.
    • Maintain appropriate licenses and training hours as required.
    • Regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
    • Serve as a member of the District Crisis Response Team and building Threat Assessment, and CPI teams.
    • Help implement and maintain the use of Kelso's Choice Conflict Management program (Elementary schools only). Teach Kelso's Choice and other SEL in classrooms as directed.
    • Regularly consult with teachers, school staff and parents/guardians regarding the needs of students.
    • Refer students and families to appropriate school specialists and/or community resources.
    • Actively participate in the District Crisis Response Team.
    • Attend and participate in School Behavior Team meetings, 100% Meetings, EBIS meetings, & PLC meetings.
    • Complete Suicide Risk Assessment Screeings (C-SSRS) as needed. Ensure suicide prevention procedures are followed. The Principal and Dean should also be able to do this in the event the CDS is not available.
    • Keep track of your own CDS student caseload and include a schedule of how often you meet with students.
    • Use and keep record of parent letter/CDS consent forms.
    • Maintain brief documentation from individual and group sessions.
    • Create and follow a daily schedule of groups, individual sessions, interventions and duties (title requirement).
    • Make abuse reports as needed and provide the principal with a copy.
    • Respond to behavioral emergencies as needed.
    • Supervision duties as assigned.
    • Other duties as assigned.
