- Provide immediate and long-term assessment of the spiritual situation and needs of the patient/family/caregiver.
- On referral and at the chaplain's initiative, provide pastoral care.
- For persons of other faith perspectives who wish ministry from within their faith, identify and make referrals to appropriate and available clergy or religious leaders in the community.
- Provide support to hospice staff.
- Coordinate patient care with other members of interdisciplinary team.
- Participate in IDT meetings.
- Participate in the assessment, education, and resolution of medical ethical issues in the hospice.
- Develop the pastoral component in the interdisciplinary team.
- Completed a curriculum of theological classes, and/or completed a minimum of two years of pastoral ministry, in church or institution.
- Valid driver's license and ability to commute within service territory.
- Demonstrated skills in pastoral assessment.
- Current CPR certification.
- Ability to provide ministry in high stress environment.
- Physically capable of sustained work in high stress environment.
