    COMPANY OVERVIEW

    Spectrum Healthcare Partners is Maine's largest multi-specialty, physician-owned and directed professional organization and is comprised of over 200 physicians practicing in the areas of anesthesiology, orthopaedics, pain management, pathology, radiation oncology, radiology, and vascular & interventional services. Spectrum provides services at many of Maine's hospitals throughout the state and in eastern New Hampshire.

    POSITION SUMMARY

    Focuses on the optimal delivery of patient care by taking x-rays according to established standards and procedures to assist orthopedic physicians to diagnose and monitor status of recovery.

    HOURS: Monday-Friday, variable hours, as needed

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Transports and positions patients with minimal discomfort, takes x-rays as requested by provider and produces quality images.
    2. Demonstrates ability to work in a film-less environment.
    3. Performs quality assurance of digital images to ensure high diagnostic image quality, and proper patient identification.
    4. Ability to operate the C-arm in surgery, under sterile technique. Assists with joint injections requiring fluoroscopy by operating the C-arm image intensifier and ensures that the procedure room is properly set up.
    5. Protects patients, self and staff from radiation exposure
    6. Logs all completed radiological procedures in the electronic patient record
    7. Communicates effectively with patients, families, providers, staff and others

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Maintains a clean and orderly work area
    • Orders related supplies and equipment
    • Provides coverage in other areas/locations when needed
    • Attends meetings as assigned, and participates in educational activities to keep skills up-to-date
    • Demonstrates professionalism at all times
    • Keeps abreast of current issues involving patient care or practice issues by attending and participating in department, team and practice meetings
    • Displays cooperative behavior and interacts positively and effectively with others to promote a team environment
    • Performs other duties necessary to maintain the overall efficiency and continuity of the clinic
    • Is proactive in identifying, reporting and participating in the resolution of any potential or actual patient safety issues

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Degree in radiography from an accredited program
    • AART Certification and Maine State RT license required
    • Current BLS required
    • Prior radiologic technologist experience with orthopedic experience preferred
    • Knowledge of healthcare field, medical office protocols/procedures
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, physicians, supervisors and other staff
    • Skill in time management, prioritizing and medical care coordination
    • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality
    • Ability to project and maintain a professional image
    • Ability to work independently and excel as part of a team
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Proficient computer skills

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • High degree of motor control and coordination
    • Operation of therapeutic and diagnostic medical equipment
    • Daily use of computer operating instruments; stationary PC, Laptop PC, keyboard and mouse
    • Light lifting of paperwork, folders or other general record keeping materials
    • Operation of various office equipment: fax machine, telephone & voice mail system, stationary/lap top computer, e-mail system, scanner, and copier
    • Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently
    • Walks frequently
    • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
    • Occasional travel between locations
    • Risk of exposure to hazardous conditions and blood borne pathogens
    • Occasional reaching, twisting, bending
