This position selects and places surgical instruments supplies and equipment during surgery scrubs and provides instruments sutures and other sterile supplies during surgical procedure participates in training orientation of surgical technology staff students assigned proficient scrub on minimum two surgical specialtiesCore functions
- Prepares for surgical procedures pulls appropriate instruments supplies ensures good working order of instruments reviews case carts correct instruments supplies troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment makes minor adjustments calls biomedical equipment staff checks schedule plans ahead upcoming surgical case needs.
- Anticipates surgeon s needs passes instruments retracts tissue maintains competency scrub minimum two surgical specialties demonstrates principles aseptic technique universal precautions throughout procedure disposes sharps trash places used supplies case cart processing participates counting sharps instrument sponges prepares instrument cleaning following each case ensures all surgeon preference cards pick lists accurate.
