- Works with University Faculty and Staff to provide recommendations on paints, finishes, and colors, based on customer needs.
- Provides accurate estimates and timelines based on labor and materials.
- Applies latex, oil-based, and pre-catalyzed paints and stains using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Respond to off-hour/weekend/holiday emergency pages/phone call-ins for assigned areas.
- Communicates project timeline to customers, ensuring that work interruptions to daily operations are minimal.
- Utilizes work order software, email, and other Office programs to manage workload and communicate with customers.
- Follows through on completed work to verify that proper facility conditions are restored and customer needs have been met.
- Keeps Facilities Engineering Supervisors aware of facility conditions, problems, and needs.
- Maintains effective communication with RRM Team Technicians, other OFMD Maintenance Support Staff, and Capital Projects members.
- Painting Skills: Safely uses a ladder, scaffolding, and lifts. Properly uses floor protection, signage, and cleanup. Skilled in masking off, setting up a soft barrier, using plastic for protection, brush, roller, and spray applications, and color matching skills to match existing wall colors.
- Repairs: Damages to drywall, plaster walls, and ceilings; caulking; vinyl wall coverings; window film; epoxy floor surfaces; and masonry walls.
- Documentation: Completes work orders, identifies time and materials spent on the project, and provides time and material cost estimates for projects. Uses good communication skills and provides accurate timelines for customers.
- Performs light carpentry duties.
- Consistently displays P.R.I.D.E. core values and acts as an informal leader, providing direction and in-the-field training for tech I & II painters.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Works inside and outside, in dusty and dirty places such as pits and equipment spaces where temperatures may exceed 100 degrees and equipment may be oily and greasy. Exposed to wet and cold conditions, as well as noise and vibration from operation equipment.
- Must be able to work in morgues, gross anatomy, and pathology laboratories where human or animal bodies or parts may be within view of the worker.
- Employees may be required to work in the vicinity of labs containing biohazardous radioactive substances.
- Ability to lift and carry tools and material weighing more than 50 pounds, and be able to raise and carry with assistance items weighing 200 pounds.
- Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch to gain access to areas in need of repair.
- Must be able to handle a variety of hand and power tools.
- Must have near-visual acuity (correctable with glasses) needed to read equipment diagrams and inspect equipment.
- Must have good depth perception, field of vision, and color vision needed to match and install finishes.

- Three years of related experience in a skilled trade function or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
- Must obtain Valid Missouri Class E or Illinois Class D Driver's license within 30 days of hire.

Furthermore, as the School of Medicine continues to expand its presence both on and off campus in areas such as teaching, clinical care, and research, our team remains instrumental in ensuring the seamless delivery of clinical care, advancing research initiatives, and facilitating educational endeavors.
The position is responsible for the application of various sealers, wood filler, metal filler, caulk, and paints, as well as the repairing of wall surfaces of all types including but not limited to metal, plaster, drywall, and wood.

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
