    Description

    The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center (OBVAMC) is actively recruiting to fill Board Certified Staff Gastroenterology Medicine (BE considered ) to help care for our Veterans - American's Heroes.

    Selected candidate will be considered for a faculty appointment at the Louisiana State University & be involved with education & teaching of Gastroenterology fellows in our fellowship program plus medical students, medicine residents rotating through the VA and supervising mid-level providers.

    Will work collaboratively with other specialists as necessary in providing the best care to Veterans. The position provides an outstanding opportunity for individuals committed to an academic career in clinical care, teaching and research.

    The Gastroenterology Section serves patients across the spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care for more than 45,000 veterans in an area to include in fifteen (15) Louisiana parishes, five (5) counties in Southern Arkansas and ten (10) counties in East Texas.


    Gastroenterologist to provide the delivery of quality patient care and evidenced- based standards of practice in the Subspecialty of Gastroenterology.

    This includes the direct patient care in concert with a GI Fellowship program in out and in-patient care settings. Endoscopic skills in non-advanced endoscopy, small bowel endoscopy, and ancillary GI procedures are required.

    Provider will also have teaching responsibilities include the effectiveness in teaching, monitoring and coordination of educational activities - planning, evaluating and documenting of medical students, residents and GI Fellows.

    Perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE).

    Work Schedule :
    Full-time, Monday-Friday, with on-call coverage (May be required to work evenings or weekends as a 24/7 Full-Time Physician).
    Board Certification in Gastroenterology preferred, but Board Eligibility may also be considered
