- Complete psychosocial assessments, develop treatment plans, and (with supervisory support if unlicensed) assign DSM-5 diagnoses, when appropriate.
- Provide ethically appropriate, theoretically sound, culturally sensitive, strengths based, trauma informed, and holistic individual and group therapy.
- Collaborate with families to identify family and student needs; providing family therapy and/or case management services when appropriate.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans for students who present in crisis.
- Prepare and facilitate parent education sessions, as needed.
- Collaborate closely with school staff to coordinate interventions to address client issues and enhance client strengths.
- When appropriate and with appropriate permission, collaborate with other professionals (i.e., case workers, probation officers, psychiatrists, other mental health clinicians)
- Maintain timely and clinically appropriate documentation of all services provided.
- Coordinate interpretation/translation for families who speak other languages in order to complete assessments, treatment plans, and/or provide resources.
- Assist in the ongoing development and implementation of the program.
- Actively participate in weekly individual supervision with Clinical Supervisor.
- Actively participate in weekly group supervision with colleagues and Clinical Supervisor.
- Demonstrable and verifiable clinical skills and experience in providing therapy services.
- Strong ethical principles reflected in practice, including a thorough understanding of client confidentiality requirements, appropriate clinical record keeping, and federal/state laws governing the practice of mental health services.
- Understanding of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion. Willingness to explore self in relation to these issues, and ability to provide culturally informed therapeutic services to diverse clientele.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
- Skilled in maintaining positive relationships and collaborating with other systems, including parents, school, probation, CPS, and other programs.
- Ability to work as a team member with staff and upper management to accomplish tasks supporting the agency's mission.
- Graduate degree in Social Work, Professional Clinical Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology. Registration with the BBS or BOP.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
StarVista has several School Based Programs that are on-site at over 20 schools throughout San Mateo County. Each clinician is assigned to one (occasionally two) school and is embedded with the school team throughout the week. Supervision, team meetings, and training will take place on a weekly basis at StarVista offices or via zoom. The clinician will provide individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention and safely planning, family therapy, and classroom workshops as needed.
POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
StarVista's various School Based Services support students in improving aspects of their lives that may lead to stronger interpersonal relationships and self-esteem, enhanced school performance, and increased engagement in learning. In order to accomplish this goal, we send qualified mental health clinicians to each school site and provide a myriad of services including assessment, crisis intervention, individual and group therapy, family therapy, psycho-education, and classroom presentations, as well as extensive consultation and training with teachers, parents, administration, and other school support staff. We are committed to culturally sensitive, strengths based, and trauma informed care. We adapt our services to fit the unique needs of each school and San Mateo County's diverse student population.
We are looking for skilled, passionate, and creative clinicians to join a strong clinical team comprised of diverse individuals (licensed, associates and trainees) who are passionate about supporting students and their families. Clinicians will collaborate with other staff in the coordination of ethically appropriate, theoretically sound, culturally sensitive, trauma informed and holistic interventions to address student issues and enhance client and family member strengths. Cultural humility and respect for diversity are core values of Star Vista and and are essential to this position.
We currently have open positions in elementary and middle schools in Redwood City, Menlo Park, Daly City and South San Francisco, and in a High School in Half Moon Bay.
