    Summary You will serve as a Pipefitter in the Production Division, Public Works Department Oceana, of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Mid-Atlantic.

    Duties * You will interpret pipefitting assignments (e.g., work orders, building plans, blueprints) to meet workload requirements.

    * You will make pressure joints (e.g., threaded, flanged welded, flange bolted, brazed, soldered, silver brazed) to install piping sections.

    * You will calculate pipe, joint, or valve sizes needed to support pressures of systems. * You will inspect and test systems for damage, leaks, and blockages in lines, expansion joints, valves and traps. * You will determine causes of problems and recommend corrective action on pipefitting work. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform common tasks including 1) Assisting in installing, modifying, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing industrial or domestic high-temperature water and high-pressure piping systems and equipment; 2) Assisting with planning, laying out and installing piping systems and equipment from blueprints, sketches, etc.; 3) Assisting with performing soft soldering and silver brazing with an oxyacetylene torch.

    You work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.
