    Description

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    Performs moderately challenging licensing and permitting tasks. The role involves reviewing license and permit applications, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and statutes, communicating with external and internal customers, and approving applications.
    Answers inquiries on driver license laws, safety responsibility laws, and other Department services. Administers driver license tests and responds to public inquiries. Works under general supervision with some independent judgment.
    The following Military Occupational Specialty codes are generally relevant to this position. Applicants need to complete the experience summary to determine if minimum qualifications are met.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES
    - Meets the general public professionally and courteously, answering questions on various licenses, traffic laws, and Department services.
    - Screens and reviews license and permit applications, determining applicant qualifications.
    - Utilizes external systems to assess applicant eligibility for licensing.
    - Inputs application data accurately, collects fees, and issues licenses.
    - Checks application accuracy, verifies documents, and ensures data correctness.
    - May conduct tests for applicants, schedule driving tests, and operate testing equipment.
    - Provides administrative support, explains licensing requirements, and assists with inquiries.
    - Approves license applications based on regulations and policies, administers oaths as needed.
    - May conduct road skills examinations, travel to different offices, and perform office tasks.
    - Attends work regularly, follows approved hours, and performs assigned duties.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
    Education: High school graduation or equivalent OR current high school enrollment required.
    Minimum age of seventeen years.
    Experience: Minimum one year of office or customer service experience. Cash handling experience preferred.
    Licensure/Certification: Valid Texas driver license required.
    Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with TXDPS, State, and Federal regulations.
    Interpersonal Skills: Ability to maintain positive relationships with customers.
    Organizational Skills: Must prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
    Presentation Skills: Capable of delivering professional presentations.
    Analytical Skills: Able to identify trends, draw conclusions, and solve problems.
    Technology: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    Confidentiality: Handling sensitive information responsibly.
    Safety: Complies with safety standards and best practices.
    Travel/Schedule: Flexibility with extended hours and potential weekend work.

    PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

    Environment: Office, Outdoors, Vehicle;

    - Ambulatory skills (e.g. stand, walk, sit)
    - Hand-eye coordination and dexterity
    - Ability to speak, hear, and maintain visual acuity
    - Capability to handle weights up to fifty pounds

    Driving requirements: Occasional (Up to 10%)
