    Position Summary


    Under the general supervision of the Executive Director for the Kickapoo Reserve Management Board (KRMB), this limited term position (LTE) will be 95% indoor work and 5% field work.

    Duties may include but not limited to:


    • Greeting, answering questions, and providing information to visitors of the Reserve and Visitor Center
    • Performing routine office tasks such as filing, running copies, stocking brochures, data entry, preparing materials for mailing, maintaining supply inventories and merchandise, maintaining logs, cleaning office equipment, organizing storage sites, stocking restroom supplies, and cleaning break room as needed
    • Selling permits and collecting visitor information
    • Registering campers and issuing visitor permits
    • Answering phones, assisting with mail tasks, and assembling information
    • Processing Friends of KVR and Reserve merchandise sales by cash, check, or credit card
    • Processing cash and check payments received through permits, sales, and events
    • Assisting with maintaining Visitor Center library and picture archives, digital photo storage online and in house
    • Assisting with setting up, hosting, and cleanup for events and education classes held at the Visitor Center
    • Effectively communicate with staff and general public
    • Other tasks as assigned
    Salary Information

    The starting rate for the Office Associate (schedule/range position will be $15.00 per hour - $18.17 per hour depending upon candidate qualifications and experience.

    The Kickapoo Valley Reserve Visitor Center is open to the public seven days a week from Memorial Day weekend through October.

    This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, and weekends to meet operational needs. This position also requires a valid driver's license and to meet the State's Fleet Standards.


    This position is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) and is limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year).

    Wisconsin residency is required for Limited Term Employment positions.

    Limited Term Employment positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to permanent civil service classified positions and do not lead to permanent status.

    Due to the nature of the position, DOA will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. DOA does not sponsor work visas.

    Qualifications

    Qualified candidates will have experience with each of the following:


    • Providing customer service (e.g., front desk, handling customer inquiries, providing instructions, referring customers to appropriate resources, resolving customer issues, etc.).
    • Providing administrative support (scanning documents, data entry, processing payments, maintaining files and/or records, etc.).
    • Utilizing computer programs (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Publisher, etc.).
