    About the Role:

    U.S. Pipe is seeking a Senior Raw Materials Clerk to join our team. This person will manage scrap iron inventories through the scheduling and receipt of scrap iron material as well as perform visual inspection so as to ensure that the material meets acceptable quality and size standards.

    Specific Responsibilities:

    • Controls Plant's raw materials inventory, which has a daily average inventory value of approximately $8.6M.
    • Issues and receives approximately 1,500 tons of raw materials daily.
    • Ensures that all scrap iron material received by rail and truck is properly weighed by obtaining gross and tare weights.
    • Maintains a record of all scrap and sand rail cars, which are in the plant daily so as to determine unloading, scheduling, and control of demurrage charges. Audits demurrage charges received from railroads on scrap cars and verify charges.
    • Communicates with scrap iron brokers, coordinates shipments and receipts and verifies the receipt of material by contract number.
    • Calculates net weights for scrap iron material received by rail and truck daily and key punches data into the computer.
    • Reviews raw materials computer report daily so as to determine inventory levels.
    • Performs visual inspection of scrap daily to verify inventory levels.
    • Coordinate with yard personnel on visual inspection on the yard as needed.
    • Contacts railroad and notify them of all cars, which are ready to be pulled from the plant, and make a record of the contact.
    • Generates, distributes, and maintains raw material inventory and contract reports weekly and at month end.
    • Assist storeroom staff with any other duties assigned by his/her Supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
    • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and the ability to maintain accurate records.

    Scope Data/Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

    • The employee will be working in an office/warehouse environment but will do some walking around the plant (from time to time) exposing the employee to Foundry operations.
    • The employee will be exposed (very briefly) to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust. Fumes, and Metallic Particles.
    • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, Walking, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Reaching, Talking, Seeing, Hearing and Sitting. The majority of the actions will be sitting.
