    Transportation Manager for Class A and Class B Drivers - Regional Routes

    The Transportation Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the transportation function in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment, including selection of qualified drivers, routing, driving, safety, fleet maintenance, customer/driver relationships, and DOT and OSHA compliance.

    Responsibilities:
    • Ensure strict compliance with DOT, environmental, and GMP policies and procedures for FTL transportation.
    • Develops, leads, and executes continuous improvement activities i.e., safety, cost/efficiency, and engagement.
    • Act as an intermediary between the transportation department and the sales department.
    • Foster open communication with department heads.
    • Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit and hire qualified CDL A and B truck drivers.
    • Possess knowledge of investigation audits and procedures.
    • Respond to and resolve customer complaints, including immediate problem-solving, coordinating response with appropriate departments.
    • Troubleshoot routing and delivery issues and follow up with drivers throughout the day.
    • Analyze standard routes on an ongoing basis to determine more efficient routes.
    • Review driver feedback on routes to make any feasible changes to the order/sequence of current routes.
    • Monitor trip, dispatch logs, and vehicle monitoring software for conformance with schedules and direct preparation and retention of dispatch and vehicle operation records and reports.
    • Lead effort to improve fleet/equipment utilization, maintenance availability and fuel efficiency.
    • Build a strong working relationship with equipment vendors.
    • Demonstrate leadership skills, project administration, strategic planning, and excellent record-keeping.
    • Ensure vehicles are clean and meet maintenance standards and requirements.
    • Counsel drivers and transportation employees, as needed, to improve performance and adherence to company policies.
    • Uphold cleanliness standards in work areas.
    • Always adhere to proper GMP.
    • Schedule and facilitate safety meetings monthly and driver meetings quarterly.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed - This manager will need to be able to cover multiple jobs and provide support when night or day staff is out of the office.
    • Perform all other duties as required by the executive leadership team.
    Qualifications

    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
    • 5+ years in a direct management role mentoring and coaching drivers daily
    • Class A commercial license a plus.
    • Working knowledge of current DOT/CSA laws
    • Experience with refrigerated food shipping and delivery requirements is a plus
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Must be detail oriented with good follow-up skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Must be able to multitask and handle a busy workload to meet strong deadlines.
    • Intermediate computer skills in a Windows environment
    • Working knowledge of Co-Pilot and Samsara preferred
    • Promote safety in all areas of operation.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed and able to be on call 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies.
    • Union experience is a plus
    • Candidate must successfully pass post-offer pre employment drug screen and background screen.
