Trident Seafoods is the largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company in North America.Trident is a privately held, 100 percent USA-owned company with primary seafood processing operations and fleet support in twelve Alaska communities.
Trident's global operations produce finished wild Alaska seafood products in 6 countries and its sales teams serve customers in over 50 countries.
Trident employs approximately 9,000 people worldwide each year and partners with over 5,400 independent fishermen and crewmembers.Species harvested and processed by Trident include virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska.
The global supply chain also includes cultured and wild species from a network of trusted sources worldwide.Operates and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and production machines and equipment on the vessel using hand and power tools by performing the following duties:
Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs)
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery.
Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications.
Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, saws, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
Sharpens and reshapes tools as necessary.
Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
Maintains a flexible schedule to accommodate variable shifts ranging from hours depending on maintenance workload.
Understand and able to implement safe work procedures.
Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs)
High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred education and experienceBasic mechanical knowledge in food industry preferred.
Work environment (includes travel/on-call):
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is frequently required to climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.Must be capable of boarding and departing (exiting) a vessel without assistance by moving up or climbing a gangplank, the stern ramp of a vessel and/or a vertical ladder.
Must be capable of boarding/departing the vessel by being lifted in a crane or manlift. May also enter and exit a skiff from a dock, plane, or a boat unassisted.Must meet at designated locations to receive instructions and place on a life jacket and an immersion suit without assistance in one minute or less.
Must also move quickly without assistance to any designated lifeboat station.This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship
