We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team building interfaces and APIs to interact with language models while upholding high safety and ethical standards. You will manage a team of software engineers building core components of our API and client libraries. You will be responsible for delivering high quality code on time that delights our users, without being involved in training the underlying models. You'll also develop systems for preventing fraudulent or abusive uses of the models.

Representative projects

• Lead a team building fullstack applications with language models
• Uphold ethical standards and prevent misuse
• Architect client-side and server-side components
• Plan and prioritize features and user stories
• Hire and mentor software engineers
• Ensure quality through testing and code reviewsIntegrate with third-party services and data sources
• Drive roadmaps, business metrics and OKRs
• Collaborate with product and research teamsLead a team of top-performing engineers in an ambiguous and evolving environment

You might be a good fit if you

• 5+ years engineering management experience
• Degree in CS or related technical fieldExperience with fullstack development
• Passion for developing AI responsibly and safely
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Experience about recruiting, scaling, and retaining engineering talent
• Passionate about building a culture of engineering excellence

Strong candidates may also have experience with some of the following

• Experience building delightful experiences for productivity tools for both enterprise and consumer customers
• Experience collaborating closely with sales, security, and product to deliver on customer needs
• Experience partnering with Product and Design teams in a startup environment
• Experience with React, TypeScript, Python

Compensation and Benefits* Anthropic's compensation package consists of three elements: salary, equity, and benefits. We are committed to pay fairness and aim for these three elements collectively to be highly competitive with market rates.

Salary - The expected salary range for this position is $270k - $445k.

Equity - Equity will be a major component of the total compensation for this position. We aim to offer higher-than-average equity compensation for a company of our size, and communicate equity amounts at the time of offer issuance.
