    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Summary/Objective:


    This director works collaboratively with the superintendent, school leadership, and building administrators to design a program and action team to respond to critical needs of students and staff.

    The director has a solid understanding of proactive and reactive strategies to address student behaviors, mental health services, de-escalation strategies, and crisis and/or trauma team response.

    The director coordinates the student support response team to provide assistance to staff, students and administrators.


    Essential Functions:


    Offer comprehensive support and guidance to building-level administrators and general education teachers, focusing on the effective implementation of restorative practices, school-wide behavior support systems, and response to intervention strategies.

    Engage with stakeholders involved in student support, data analysis, and problem-solving teams to ensure alignment and successful implementation of identified approaches.

    Provide hands-on training and ongoing coaching to school leadership teams and teachers, emphasizing the practical application of restorative practices, school-wide behavior support systems, and response to intervention frameworks.

    Develop, implement, and maintain a robust framework for analyzing student and teacher data, leveraging tools such as Infinite Campus and eduCLIMBER to inform data-driven decision-making processes.

    Assist teachers in identifying students' specific needs and facilitate the implementation of appropriate interventions tailored to individual circumstances.

    Contribute to the expansion and enhancement of district-wide plans aimed at fostering sustainable restorative practices, school-wide behavior support systems, and behavior management systems.

    Lead and organize committee meetings dedicated to restorative practices, school-wide behavior support systems, and behavior management, ensuring effective communication with all district stakeholders.

    Take responsibility for the recruitment, training, evaluation, and coordination of mental health specialists, behavior specialists, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and other student services positions, providing supervision as needed.

    Conduct regular supervision meetings, offer ongoing consultation, and maintain comprehensive data records to support the mental health team's effectiveness, culminating in an annual summary report.

    Act as the primary point of contact and lead responder for district crisis response, collaborating closely with safety and security departments, communications teams, district leadership, and law enforcement agencies when necessary.

    Provide consultation and direct support to district administrators and principals on matters related to student safety, collaborating with school counselors, social workers, and psychologists as needed.

    Offer oversight and support for district-wide suicide and substance abuse prevention programs, including recommending training for relevant personnel and coordinating trauma-responsive education initiatives.

    Consult with appropriate cabinet members on issues pertaining to child abuse and neglect training and provide resources and support to district staff dealing with such concerns.

    Cultivate and maintain relationships with various community-based organizations and state agencies to promote positive partnerships, advocate for mental health issues, and coordinate efforts to enhance student well-being and safety.

    Engage in ongoing professional development, attend staff meetings, and provide support and training to current mental health providers within student services, ensuring a cohesive approach to crisis intervention and response
