    Position Summary:

    The Tax Accountant performs key tax functions in the areas of income, sales and use, and indirect taxes. The Tax Accountant also performs duties for the Financial Reporting function on accounting and financial projects as time permits.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities::
    • Prepares all supporting workpapers and gathers requested information in connection with the external tax compliance providers annual income tax compliance.
    • Aids with the facilitation and management of the preparation of the companys Federal and state tax returns to ensure accurate, timely filing of all tax forms.
    • Prepares responses to information requests from Federal, state and local taxing authorities for review.
    • Prepares and files sales tax returns accurately and reconciles sales tax payable accounts in a timely manner.
    • Assists with the calculation, reporting, and remittance of various indirect taxes, including real and personal property taxes.
    • Identifies opportunities and assists with process improvements within the companys tax functions.
    • Conducts technical research and document findings as needed.
    • Completes month-end close activities such as account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and clinic analysis.
    • Reviews invoices for both clinic related and tax related bills.
    • Provides expertise on any sales tax matters or considerations related to fixed asset purchases.
    • Performs other duties as assigned, including special projects.
    Education Requirements:
    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is required
    • CPA accreditation is a plus
    Basic Qualifications:
    • 1-2 years of Tax experience required, preferably in a Public Accounting setting.
    • Well-rounded tax background, including exposure to corporate income tax, partnership tax, state and local tax, sales and use tax, and indirect taxes.
    • Strong verbal and communication skills are necessary as this position will be required to present complex information in a clear, digestible manner.
    • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
    • Proven track record of successfully meeting deadlines while producing high quality work.
    • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results.
    • Ability to act and operate independently with minimal direction from manager to accomplish daily tasks.
    • Strong time management and prioritization skills are a must to complete multiple projects simultaneously.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
    • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file .cabinets, supplies, and office machinery.
    • The person in this position frequently communicates with managers at remote locations using email and phone. Must be able to exchange clear, accurate information in these situations.
    • Occasionally moves equipment and supplies weighing up to 15 pounds.
    • The person in this position frequently communicates and collaborates with co-workers in the office.
    • Frequent keyboarding/use of computer for data entry

    Technical Skills::
    • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and overall tax concepts with an emphasis on income tax.
    • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
