The qualified Grocery Category Manager has at least 3 years of experience in buying and sourcing new products and is a raving fan of the Trader Joe's concept.

A Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred. This role is based in our office in Monrovia, CA.

The Category Manager is responsible for:

Delivering Product Value (Quality and Price), selection, vendor relations, and fulfillment measures such as fill-rate, TOS position and inventory control.
Staying up to date on category trends, seasonality and offers a WOW selection of everyday and seasonal products.
Working with Product Developers to actively diversify their vendor base and develops broker-free relationships.
Developing and adeptly introduces new products in a persuasive and informative manner and is knowledgeable about the product, the relevance to the category and the value it offers.
Working collaboratively with other departments such as Marketing, Stores, and Finance.

The Category Manager has:

3+ years of experience as a Category Manager or in a Buying and Sourcing role, preferably in the Food and Grocery space.
Excellent communication skills with previous negotiation experience.
Strong organization and time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as comfort with retail-based mathematics.
