As a Lead Backend Engineer at PSQ Payments, you will be part of a team delivering a world-class payments stack for the parallel economy.

You will work with Docker, Git, Gradle, Groovy, Helm, IntelliJ, Java, Kafka, Kotest, Kotlin, Kubernetes, Micronaut, MongoDB, Varnish and other various technologies.

Architecture and compliance is paramount, as we'll be complying with PCI-DSS and other industry security and compliance standards. This position will be responsible for building / maintaining our core payments infrastructure, and integrations to various payment partners.

Selected Highlights/ResponsibilitiesPartner with Product to build a world-class payments infrastructurePartner with Product, Client Success, and market-facing teams to select and deliver against the highest value technical initiatives as build build PSQ PaymentsSupervise development best practices and infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiencyPartner on architecture that prioritizes security, scalability, availability, and maintainabilityAssist in production support as needed via Issue Management.

Ensure technologies are used efficiently, profitably, and securely.
Evaluate and implement new frameworks, and design patterns.
Proactively work to develop individuals on the team; to help them stay current and skilled.
Participate in a focused, experienced, energetic team on a rapid, agile development schedule.

Requirements7+ years experience in software development, a background as a software architect, or senior developer a plusExperience in fast-paced, highly innovative SaaS startup and scale-up companiesExperience with Cloud technologies and optimizing for scale and costLeadership and organizational abilities.

Proven experience as an architect, director or similar leadership roleAbility to actively communicate, inspire and motivate all levels of staff.

Partners effectively and collaboratively with the Product, Sales, and Client Services teamHigh 'EQ' - good listening skills, clear and direct communicator with very high integrityHonest and fair with both their team members as well as their colleaguesAbility to think and act strategically and proactivelyExcellent communication skills.
