Research Assistant for Grants Applications x Beauty Documentary - New York, United States - The New School

    Default job background
    Description

    Responsibilities:

The Research Assistant will be a fundraising researcher for a documentary on beauty and its toxic tropes. The goal of the film is not to "solve" beauty but to investigate all the negotiations that human beings need to have in order to be liked. In our documentary, we would like to investigate the meaning behind the cultural relevance of beauty as one of the most primitive, and powerful, cues to regulate human interactions. Beauty can define layers of meaning, but it has seldom been investigated as a source of meaning and purpose. The RA will research all sources of funding for feature films (the documentary will be partly scripted), documentaries and academic research revolving around these themes. The final deliverable will be a list of all sources of funding, draft applications (grant writing background a plus) and a spreadsheet tracking the progress of all fundraising efforts, including festivals and streamers. A background in film, media studies or fundraising is a plus.
THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION

The New School is strongly committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace and particularly seeks applications from members of underrepresented groups, as well as candidates who share this commitment.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between SENS-UAW, Local 7902 and the University.

    Hourly Rate: $22.08/hr

    Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience with grants applications and grants writing
  • Responsibilities include reviewing and writing grant applications
  • Good writing and summarizing skills
  • Good organization and time management skills
  • Preferred Qualifications: A background in film, media studies or fundraising is a plus.
