    Responsibilities


    The Community Paramedic is responsible for delivering high quality primary care and medical evaluation for low, medium and high acuity patients in a variety of clinical and community settings.

    Major functions may include health assessments, chronic disease monitoring and education, medication management, immunizations and vaccinations, laboratory specimen collection, hospital discharge follow-up and minor medical procedures.

    The Community Paramedic must demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in providing for the physical and emotional needs of patients.

    The Community Paramedic works autonomously and must have excellent judgment and be able to prioritize decisions and act quickly in the best interest of the patient.

    Must be self-disciplined, able to develop patient rapport, interview hostile patients, maintain safe distance, and recognize and utilize communication unique to diverse multicultural groups and ages within those groups.

    Must be able to function independently at optimum level in a non-structured environment that is constantly changing.

    Qualifications

    High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Certified as a paramedic.

    At least two years of experience as a Paramedic or a combination of three years of experience as an EMT or Paramedic.

    Associate or baccalaureate degree is preferred. Must be proficient in English; must have the ability to read, write and speak English. Current certification as a Minnesota Community Paramedic or willingness to begin the training program upon hire. Current certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic as well as current Minnesota and/or Wisconsin Paramedic licensure/certification. Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification and ACLS. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record in accordance with Mayo Clinic Policy.

    Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.; $ $41.57 / hour
