    Summary



    As an Aerospace Engineer in the Resource and Integration Office (SA-A), Safety & Mission Assurance (SMA) Directorate at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), you will serve as an Independent Assessment (IA) Technical Lead. You will provide independent technical review and assessment of engineering and mission risks associated with programs and projects, and support Risk Informed Decision Making, Continuous Risk Management, and Certificate of Flight Readiness processes.



    Duties

    • Serve as technical lead and direct multidisciplinary NASA/contractor team activities to execute assessments involving safety and quality requirements, flight and ground systems analysis, and close call and mishap evaluation.
    • Lead assessment efforts, prioritize and monitor work, and provide leadership and engineering knowledge in executing independent assessments.
    • Work with KSC Safety and Mission Assurance Chief Officers and Senior Management to identify technical areas of concern and implement technical assessments while ensuring communication among all assessment stakeholders.
    • Consult with NASA Headquarters and other NASA Centers to administer the Independent Assessment function at KSC, maintaining liaison with the Office of Safety and Mission Assurance, NASA Engineering Safety Center, and KSC program managers.
    • Collaborate with the Chief and Deputy Chief of the Resources and Integration Office to manage budget and resource planning for the KSC Independent Assessment function.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to assist Directorate leadership including support of directorate-wide actions and special projects.
