    The Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Medical Assistant performs routine administrative and patient care support duties in a medical practice to assist medical and nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensures that the office runs smoothly.

    QualificationsCertifications (one of the following required):Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA)

    Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)Certified Medical Assistant – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Allied Health (AAH)Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT)Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)Additional Requirements:
    Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of hireEducation:High School Diploma or GED ResponsibilitiesRooming patients, including:Collecting pertinent information related to chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and medication reconciliationTelephone interactions, including:Communicating with patients, families, pharmacies, and other healthcare facilitiesGathering and maintaining patient information per department policies and workflowsAdministrative support, including but not limited to:Patient check-in and check-outScheduling appointmentsPrior authorizationsBenefits verificationCoordination of referrals and diagnostic testingClinical and office procedures, as directed and per department competencies, including:Urine catheterizations and bladder scanningSuture and staple removalApplication and removal of casts (per provider direction)

    Point-of-care diagnostic testingReading negative TB skin tests and escalating potential positive results to nursing staffPatient education, including:

    Providing written instructions related to procedures, medications, and follow-up careRetrieving condition-specific education materials per provider ordersMedication support, including:Administering medications and injections per provider ordersAssisting with prescription refills, calling medications into pharmacies, notifying patients, and documenting actions in the EMRClinical support and competencies, including:Taking and documenting vital signsMedication reconciliationProcessing lab specimens and point-of-care testingStocking exam rooms and maintaining equipmentChaperoning providers during exams and proceduresMaintaining department-specific competencies and specialty training About UsFind it here.

    Compensation and BenefitsThe compensation range for this position is $18.33per hour - $29.69per hour.

    This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health.

    The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
