Job Duties
The Office of the State Inspector General (OSIG) is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Senior Audit Analyst within its Audit Division.
The purpose of the position is to utilize data analytics in order to plan and conduct performance audits of programs, activities and functions in executive branch state agencies and make recommendations that will enhance the efficiency, effectiveness and economy of state government operations.
This position serves as the lead data analytics and technical support auditor. This position will also serve as an auditor-in-charge of audits, leading other auditors assigned to the audit. The position will assist with or conduct special investigations or special projects, utilizing data analysis. This position will train others on using data analysis, and assist leadership with developing dashboard reports.Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform government performance audits or equivalent process improvement projects or program evaluations. Demonstrated knowledge and ability to evaluate state systems, including data dictionaries to assist with requesting agency data for audits.
Demonstrated knowledge and ability of various query tools to analyze data, such as Excel, Power BI, SQL Server, and Tableau.
Skills to identify key performance metrics and trend corresponding data to identify patterns. Skills to develop graphs and charts for providing visual representation of trends in data for reporting purposes. Ability to use various query tools to retrieve data. Ability to validate data received to ensure that the data can be relied upon for developing queries. Experience creating and generating report queries using Pentana, Audit or other audit software. Ability to write audit reports including findings and recommendations. Demonstrated ability to multitask to assist different audit teams with analyzing data. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to interact and communicate effectively within the audit team and executive management at OSIG and other state agencies and institutions, legislators, and the citizens of the Commonwealth.
Good PC skills (Word processing, spreadsheets, email) are a must. High School Graduate or equivalent.Additional Considerations
Demonstrated ability to develop tools to automatically update data tables and corresponding queries for performance of continuous monitoring; Experience in auditing application systems and knowledge of information systems is a plus; Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Security Auditor (CISA), or other equivalent professional certification.
