- The Psychiatrist conducts face-to-face interviews with mentally ill inmate-youths for crisis help. Assess them in their cells, which may require climbing stairs and walking.
- Perform initial mental health evaluations, including criminal, psychiatric, and substance abuse history, to understand their needs and plan treatment.
- Assess suicide risk thoroughly, review records, and document findings.
- Prescribe medication as needed, following guidelines.
- Interpret lab results and refer to medical services if needed.
- The Psychiatrist modifies treatment plans based on progress.
- Build relationships with families for better treatment outcomes.
- Be available on-call for emergencies.
- Maintain order and prevent escapes or injuries.
- The Psychiatrist follows safety protocols to prevent injuries or exposures.
- Minimum 12 months of recent experience in similar psychiatric services within the last 3 years, excluding internship.
- Shall have a current license to practice in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. All licenses held must be full and unrestricted and do not/have never had a license restricted, suspended, revoked, voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered, pending action, or denied upon application.
- Must be board certified/board eligible by the ABPN.
- Must have current ACLS and BLS certified or equivalent.
