    Overview :

    The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for new and existing products and enhancements as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

    Utilizing the services of one or more staff engineers/designers, the Senior Product Engineer will complete product engineering, custom project execution and project management activities through completion of full manufacturing release.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    ~ Lead a product design team for product enhancement, new product development, engineered-to-order projects and resolution of technical issues.

    Product line responsibility as assigned by the Engineering manager
    Analyze, develop, test and manage new product developments including developing inputs for product specifications, functional performance, estimated engineering hours, estimated production costs and milestone dates
    Continuously improve and maintain existing products (through NPD, ECR and ECN processes)
    Oversee, check, approve and release of final engineering documentation as design outputs (engineering drawings, calculations, bill of materials, routings, manuals, assembly instructions, cut sheets and other associated technical documents) for products
    Configure existing "as sold" products and systems for Customers
    Specify components, assemblies and materials based on design inputs and research supplier offerings
    Project manage existing and new product projects by monitoring, reporting and controlling labor and material costs within design input constraints and coordinating cooperative efforts with other internal and external sources
    Perform calculations including but not limited to: fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, finite element analysis, ASME, PED, etc.
    Support the Customer Service Project Manager for resolution to post shipment Customer equipment performance along with technical troubleshooting
    Interface effectively with other departments, including Sales, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, Field Service and Project Management
    Indirectly supervise other engineers & designers to drive project assignments to completion as provided by the Engineering Manager
    Perform on-site plant inspections, technical support/analysis, troubleshooting and equipment rebuilds


    Qualifications:
    ~ Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for providing a high level of product design and innovation to enhance and improve existing products / portfolio
    ~ Highly motivated requiring minimal supervision and capable of working on multiple projects at once
    ~ Highly detail oriented, organized with prioritization and time management skills.
    ~ Team player with a positive attitude
    ~ Strong communication skills for direct Customer contact & leading technical discussions
    ~8+ years of engineering and design experience or equivalent experience
    ~ Direct experience providing technical and engineering support in a commercial sales team structure

    Familiar with engineering concepts, practices and procedures in machine design, piping systems, fluid dynamics and heat transfer
    Familiar with manufacturing processes (machining, welding, etc.) to produce equipment
    Experience with concept development to point of final product release
    Experience with responsibility for making product line decisions within a business
    PC literate, including Microsoft Office software or related experience.
    Experience with engineering CAD programs (SolidWorks preferred)
    Practical experience with process control mechanisms and instrumentation and ability to read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams


    Preferred Experience:
    Experience in a product development role designing industrial and sanitary products.
    Experience in executing an engineered-to-order product
    Experience in compliance with ASME codes such as BPE, Section VIII, B16.5, B31.3, etc.
    Product line management experience (NPD / stage gate process, business case, marketing analysis)
    DFMA, FMEA and GD&T concepts and skills
    ERP and CRM system software.


    Education:
    Minimum of a BS Engineering degree; preference in Mechanical (Chemical, Electrical or other equivalent degrees considered)
    Professional Engineering license or master's degree preferred or equivalent experience.


    Travel:
    Up to 10% travel, domestic and occasional international locations.
    Must possess legal authorization to work in the US, and a valid US driver's license.
