    The Role:

    We are seeking a Title Abstractor/Searcher to report to, and work directly with the search team in our Onondaga office. The company's growth necessitates the addition of a team member who can work independently in a team-oriented environment while utilizing their natural ability to perform with little deviation to their internal set schedule. The individual will be responsible for title research while maintaining production goals and deadlines. The overall purpose of the role will be to provide search products based on client needs up to and including abstracts of title.

    What you will do:

    • Search Statewide County Records such as deeds, mortgages, property taxes, federal and state inheritance/estate taxes, deeds of trust, liens, judgments, easements, restrictions, bankruptcy filings, foreclosures, surrogates, plats/maps, and other records and report findings per individual search requirements.
    • Proof and examine searches to ensure that the report is accurate, inclusive of all needed documentation, and delivered on time.
    • Prepare documents and record said documents provided by our clients either in person at the Onondaga County Clerk's office or online via eRecording.
    • Synthesize all title search findings, along with any information obtained via third-party abstractors, to prepare clear and concise title search reports.
    • Meet deadlines and balance multiple priorities in an environment with shifting timeframes.
    • Be a resource for other internal team members to assist with any searching questions or needs.
    • Mentor other team members, new or existing, once fully trained for training if requested by management.
    • Other duties as assigned by supervisors and/or the Executive team to support the ongoing needs and mission of the Company.

    Your Areas of Knowledge and Expertise that matter most in this role:

    • Strong time management skills to meet specific deadlines, daily and weekly, based on current internal and client needs.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and proactively seek help or escalate if needed.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal with all levels of management and internal team members
    • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
    • Proficiency in word processing software and ability to learn internal systems quickly.
    • Minimum education level required: High School diploma or GED with 2-3 years of experience in a professional office environment OR associate degree and 1-2 years of experience in a professional office environment.

    No previous experience in searching, abstracting, or real estate is required. Vanguard will provide all the necessary training and resources needed to help you jump-start your new career.
