- Patient Assessment:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients with cardiac conditions.
- Monitor vital signs, assess symptoms, and gather relevant medical history.
- Diagnostic Procedures:
- Assist in and perform diagnostic procedures such as electrocardiograms (ECG), stress tests, and Holter monitoring.
- Monitor and interpret diagnostic results.
- Medication Administration:
- Administer medications as prescribed by physicians, including cardiac medications and anti-arrhythmics.
- Educate patients on medication usage and potential side effects.
- Patient Education:
- Provide education to patients and their families on heart health, lifestyle modifications, and disease management.
- Explain treatment plans and procedures to patients.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and other healthcare team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care.
- Monitoring:
- Monitor and manage patients post-cardiac procedures or surgeries.
- Keep track of cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation, and other relevant parameters.
- Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to respond to cardiac emergencies, including administering CPR and utilizing cardiac life support protocols.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Document all nursing interventions, medications, and patient responses.
- Quality Assurance:
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care outcomes.
- Follow evidence-based practice guidelines and contribute to research activities.
- Patient Advocacy:
- Advocate for the needs and preferences of patients within the healthcare system.
- Address concerns and collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Strong understanding of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
