    LOCATION: City of Saratoga Springs NY – Accounts Department – Assessment Office

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    The following qualification(s)

    MUST be met and clearly detailed on the application form Ø Possession of one of the following designations:
    IAO-Professional Assessor; CAE-Certified Assessment Evaluator; AAS-Assessment Administrator Specialist; CCD-Certified County Director of Real Property Services; OR Certification by the New York State Board of Real Property Services AND
    • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered four year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and three (3) years of full time paid experience in an occupation involving the valuation of real property such as an assessor, appraiser, valuation data manger, real property appraisal aide or a closely related field; OR
    • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered two year college or university with an Associates Degree and five (5) years of full time paid experience in an occupation involving the valuation of real property such as an assessor, appraiser, valuation data manger, real property appraisal aide or a closely related field; OR
    • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and seven (7) years of full time paid four years of full time paid experience in an occupation involving the valuation of real property such as an assessor, appraiser, valuation data manger, real property appraisal aide or a closely related field.

    CERTIFICATION:
    If you are eligible for the required licensure/certification you
    can be admitted to this examination. If successful on the examination, you will not be certified for permanent appointment until you have submitted proof of possession of the required licensure/certificate to the Saratoga Springs Civil Service Office.·

    ONLY APPLIES IF A REQUIREMENT
    . If you expect to complete the educational requirement within 6 months, you can be admitted to this examination.

    If successful on the examination, you will not be certified for appointment until you have submitted proof of completion of the requirements to the Saratoga Springs Civil Service Office.

    Proof must be submitted within 2 months, following award of degree; failure to do so will result in removal of your name from the established eligible list.


    SPECIAL NOTES:

    · If required to drive a city vehicle, current and valid NYS drivers license required.· Degree must have been awarded by a college or university by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the US Department of Education/US Secretary of Education.     DUTIES:

    This is professional work in the valuation for assessment of real property for tax purposes and the preparation of an annual assessment roll. Work is performed under the direction of the Commissioner of Accounts who is the City's legal Assessor. This position has reporting lines to the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner of Accounts. Supervision is exercised over the work of the assessment office staff. Advisory service is available from the County Director of Real Property Tax Services and the State Board of Real Property Services. Does related work as required.
