Department: Assembly & Test
Reports To: Manufacturing Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary
The Assembly & Test Supervisor is responsible for leading daily operations within the department while driving productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. This role oversees a team of approximately 20 production employees and ensures operational goals are met through effective planning, leadership, and process improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with manufacturing experience who can balance hands-on floor leadership with strategic operational oversight.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a team of approximately 20 production employees
- Plan and implement systems and procedures to improve department efficiency and operating quality
- Analyze business processes, identify gaps, and implement solutions to increase productivity
- Drive operational performance and cost reduction initiatives
- Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to update and improve work instructions
- Coordinate with Planning, Purchasing, and Stockroom teams to address material shortages and production scheduling
- Schedule work assignments, training, vacations, and overtime
- Conduct interviews and support hiring and onboarding processes
- Set employee performance goals and conduct performance reviews
- Maintain daily accountability for production targets
- Assist with employee relations matters in coordination with Human Resources
- Conduct regular department meetings and communicate updates across multiple levels of the organization
- Maintain department cleanliness in alignment with 5S standards
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of department personnel
- Plan, assign, and direct work activities
- Evaluate performance and implement corrective actions when necessary
- Support employee development and coaching initiatives
- Address employee concerns and resolve operational issues
- Contribute to achieving monthly, quarterly, and annual company performance goals
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree required (preferably in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related technical field)
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a production or manufacturing environment
- Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows
- Demonstrated leadership and team development skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office and MRP systems
- Knowledge of management and supervisory best practices
- Ability to foster a positive, high-performance team environment
- Hydraulics and aerospace experience a plus
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, talking, and hearing
- Regular use of hands for handling or operating equipment
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, or reaching
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
You should be proficient in:
- Bachelor's Degree
