Position Announcement
The Physics Department at the University of Oregon invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Experimental Biological Physics to begin in Fall 2025. Outstanding candidates with research interests in any aspect of biological physics, including molecular-, cellular-, organismal-, or community-scale phenomena, are encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will have opportunities to interact with research groups in Physics and in other departments, and in interdisciplinary research institutes including the Material Science Institute, the Institute of Molecular Biology, and the Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact.
Selection criteria will focus on the potential for excellence in research, teaching, and service, including establishing an innovative, internationally recognized, and externally funded research program; teaching and mentoring effectively at both undergraduate and graduate levels; and engaging productively with faculty, staff, community members, and others with a diversity of perspectives and backgrounds.
Applicants must have a Ph. D. or equivalent in physics or a related discipline and an outstanding record of research accomplishments. We expect to fill this position at the rank of assistant professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and start-up funds will be available.
Department or Program Summary
The Department of Physics is an instructional and research department within the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) that supports significant research activities in a wide range of fields in the physics discipline. The Department includes 29 teaching faculty, as well as emeritus faculty, research staff, and 5 professional/administrative staff. The department enrolls approximately 2,000 students per term, 200 undergraduate majors, and 95 doctoral students.
