    Description
    Durham Academy is accepting applications for part-time assistant coaches in our girls volleyball program. We are in search of assistants for all three of our teams (varsity, JV and Middle School). The season runs from early August through mid-October.

    Job Responsibilities:
    • Assist with tryouts and team selection in consultation with the JV, Varsity and MS Head Coaches
    • Help Plan and execute effective practices
    • Assist head coach with creating and executing game strategy
    • Drive a minibus to all road games
    • Collaborate with all coaches in the volleyball program and DA Athletics trainers, staff, administration and faculty
    Candidates should expect a regular weekday commitment of 90-minute practices with 2-3 games per week. This position reports to both the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach and the Director of Athletics.

    The ideal candidate will have the following characteristics:
    • Experience playing or coaching volleyball at the interscholastic or collegiate level.
    • A commitment to providing a safe, healthy, joyful environment for practice and play
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • An ability and eagerness to maintain positive, collaborative working relationships with all members of the school community (student-athletes, families, alumni, teachers, administrators and fellow coaches)
    • The ability to lead student-athletes with competitive energy and formative care
