    Description
    Job Duties:
  • Assess all taxes that fall within the guidelines of the City and State Codes.
  • Interview taxpayers pertaining to tax assessment, basis of value, and tax due.
  • Advise senior agents of issues relating to business taxes and summonses.
  • Update files and answer basic taxpayer inquiries (in person, by telephone, and email).
  • Assist clerical personnel with tax information.
  • Operate various office equipment.
  • Perform technical work which involves ability to interpret state code and apply local and state code to individual taxpayer, assessing business or personal, tangible property, classify businesses correctly, and issue business license once all code-related procedures are satisfied.
  • May cross-train or assist in other functional areas of state income tax, personal property tax, exemption programs, or DMV Select.
  • Perform other job duties requiring skills, knowledge and physical requirements as demanded by those
    duties described or less. Individual assignments will be determined by the supervisor based on then
    current workloads and department needs.

    Minimum Requirements:

    MINIMUMS: High School or GED plus one (1) year of experience in a field which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, such as accounting. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
