    The Staff Development Coordinator assesses, plans, organizes, implements, evaluates, and coordinates, the community's infection control and staff development program while performing clinical tasks and assisting in other departments.


    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



    • Ensure that care team members receive compliance training and education necessary to perform their job responsibilities with compassionate care.



    • Ensure that documentation for all training is completed in accordance with state, federal, and compliance requirements.



    • Monitor care team member performance and take necessary action for compliance issues.



    • Develop and conduct an orientation program in collaboration with the HR Coordinator for new and rehired care team members.



    • Provide hands-on clinical orientation and instruction to licensed and unlicensed personnel.



    • Conduct or coordinate new care team member job training and CPR training.



    • Assess resident needs in relation to staff abilities and design appropriate training programs.



    • Work with the Director of Nursing Services (DNS) ensuring clinical competency of nursing staff through observed skills evaluation, and conduct annual competency assessments for licensed nursing staff and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).



    • Collect, analyze, and provide infection data and trends to nursing staff and health care practitioners.



    • Consult on infection risk assessment, prevention, and control strategies.



    • Ensure the community's infection control reports describe the types of infections and are used to identify trends and patterns.



    • Assist in department budget preparation and contain expenditures within budget.


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • This position requires for the care team member to be able to perform and complete each essential duty satisfactorily.



    • This position requires for the care team member to be able to read, write, have excellent communication skills, and understand the spoken English language to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents.



    • This position requires for the care team member to be able to reach (overhead), stand, walk, sit, pull, lift, carry, push, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and twist.



    • This position requires for the care team member to be knowledgeable of infection control techniques.


    REQUIREMENTS:



    • Current RN license by State Board of Nursing in state employed; license must be active, valid, and in good standing.



    • Infection Control Certficiate - if not certified course will be required



    • Valid CPR teaching certificate.



    • Experience in the long-term care or working with the geriatric population preferred.
