- Process various transactions in the accounting system, including journal entries, billing and cash receipts
- Prepare supporting schedules for estimates and allocation of expenses
- Assist monthly close process by reconciliating balance sheet accounts and analyzing discrepancies
- Perform variance analysis of general ledger accounts
- Lead and participate in monthly financial reviews with community management by analyzing financial data and interpreting results of operations
- Assist with external audit requests and other corporate reporting requirements
- Assist with development, maintenance and documentation of all policies and procedures related to assigned areas of responsibility
- Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned
- Demonstrates proficiency in:
- MS Office - Intermediate Excel skills required
- Yardi (preferred), or other accounting software
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- 1-5 years of relevant accounting experience (public experience preferred)
- Basic understanding of accounting rules and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Ability to work independently
- Analytical skills
- Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal skills; able to listen effectively to solve problems, anticipate issues and make effective decisions; and perform responsibilities as a team player
