    Summary:
    Performs all duties as a staff Radiologic Technologist. Performs all radiologic duties effectively in the surgery department. Performs all radiographic quality control duties in the radiology and surgery department.


    Other information:
    Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology or equivalent. Must achieve certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technology within one year of graduation. Must be licensed by the State of Louisiana.

    Responsibilities:
    Performs quality control daily for all processors in the Radiology and Surgery Departments. Maintains daily and monthly logs of results. Notifies supervisor when fluctuations occur.
    Performs quarterly and annual quality control functions, i.e. lead apron/glove monitoring, light leak monitoring, equipment license, etc. Updates protocols for use of equipment in surgery and posts in appropriate areas. 1. Demonstrates a complete working knowledge of all radiographic equipment within the Surgery Department.2. Performs all routine radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures in the surgical setting as assigned. Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning. Obtains patient history and clinical data for correlation with the radiographs.3. Adjust technical factors in proportion to patient and body part being examined while minimizing radiation. Provides radiation protection to patient, staff and self according to prescribed safety standards.4. Performs visual inspection of equipment, identifies problems and communicates to immediate supervisor.5. Develops exposed cassettes then returns cassettes to proper location. Reviews images for proper positioning, technique and identification.6. Maintains necessary inventory of supplies.7. Assists in the movement of patients to and from stretchers and radiographic tables.8. Recognizes emergency situations. Initiates code procedures and administers first aid or CPR as needed.9. Performs any other duties as direct by the Diagnostic Radiology Supervisor, Coordinator or Director.10. Follows job of Radiologic Technologist.
