    Role description:

    This is an exciting career opportunity for a self-motivated engineer to join one of the best-qualified design consulting firms in the country. The structural engineer, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of water and wastewater engineering design & construction to successfully execute projects throughout the northeast.

    Role accountabilities:

    This individual will be responsible for the combination of technical design and engineering of components of projects, meeting financial, quality and timeframe objectives while meeting or exceeding client expectations. Task will include organizing and conducting structural related engineering investigations, calculations, and planning of work. The role will also research feasibility of alternative design approaches. Additional duties include:
    • Work effectively in team atmosphere and establish strong relationships with other teams and team members where overlap of client project work exists.
    • Assist with development of calculations, design drawings and details, specifications, requests for proposals, and other contract documents.
    • Interact and work directly with other engineering disciplines, office / project staff, client and sub-contractors, throughout the project life cycle,
    • Display clear and concise, oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to coordinate meetings.
    • Assist with developing and conducting effective client meetings/presentations.
    • Ability to exercise their own judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
    • Perform construction oversight activities for design projects including regular site visits, identifying issues, and assist with developing resolutions for site issues. Ideal candidate should expect to spend approximately 20% of their time on project construction sites.
    • Perform visual assessments of existing structures and provide recommendations for repair or upgrades through written reports.
    • Some local and regional travel may be required to support project needs.
    Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Structural, Civil Engineering or a related field of study.
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience.
    • Professional Engineer licensed in Pennsylvania
    Key Skills and Abilities:
    • Demonstrates a strong ability to work on tasks with minimal senior level oversight.
    • Experience and proficiency with MathCad, RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, Staad and/or other similar structural software.
    • Strong structural analysis and design skills.
    • Experience evaluating, planning, and designing heavy concrete structures including storage tanks, foundations, and underground vaults.
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Skills to include: public speaking, ability to work as part of a team and independently, preparation and development of technical documents, prior client involvement and/or relationship skills as part of the project team.
    • Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules and cost estimates.
    • Construction field experience overseeing concrete structure installations, inspections, field directives, and issues resolution.
    • Functional knowledge and experience with AutoCAD/REVIT and Bluebeam software.
    • Functional experience with MS Office applications.
    • Excellent working knowledge of all building codes and standards such as IBC, ACI, etc.

We offer nine paid holidays per calendar year depending on start, and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $76,110 - $114,165.
