    Jenks Public Schools Job Description

    Position: Lifeguard

    Reports to: Coordinator - Trojan Aquatic Center

    Supervises: None

    Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Current certification in America Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid (or equivalent) required.
  • Current certification in American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (or equivalent) required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young children, parents and community members.
  • Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Position Goal: To maintain a positive and safe environment for all patrons.

    Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Performs surveillance of patrons in the swimming pool facility.
  • Recognizes emergencies and responds quickly and effectively to all emergencies.
  • Enforces all swimming pool facility policies, rules and regulations.
  • Performs opening and closing duties including equipment set up.
  • Assists patrons in a friendly manner without compromising surveillance duties.
  • Inspects the swimming pool facility daily and reports any unsafe conditions or equipment to the Aquatics Coordinator.
  • Completes records and reports in a professional manner.
  • Participates in regular in-service training.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Employment Terms: Community Education Classified - Temporary Contract As Needed

    Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
