    The Director of Business Development - Contract Contract Carriage is directly responsible for identifying and closing new business for Miller Dedicated Services. You will be contracting trucks and drivers based on company gross profit guidelines, volume and customer satisfaction standards as an individual contributor. This position can be based out of New England or possibly upstate New York.

    Requirements

    You Will:

    • Business is built on customer satisfaction and you will devote himself/herself to guaranteeing satisfaction to customers.
    • Determine each customer's needs by asking questions and actively listening.
    • Maintain a prospect development system that lists prospects for a sales customer database.
    • Meet minimum standards set for new contacts, cold calls, proposals and sales goals.
    • Attend sales meetings as needed.
    • Maintain a customer follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business.
    • Keep abreast of new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefits to customers.
    • Establish personal goals consistent with company standards of productivity, and devise a strategy to meet those goals.
    • Report to the Sales Manager regarding objectives, planned activities, reviews and analyses.
    • Review and analyze actions at the end of each day, week, month and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively.
    • Understand the terminology of the trucking business and keep abreast of technological changes in the various products.
    • Know and understand the transportation world, costing on all items of dedicated trucking, various solutions for customer needs, and be able to explain these to the customer.
    • Utilize all sales tools provided by the Company, including proposals, visuals, cost comparisons, promotional and sales items. Assist in creating additional sales tools as needed.
    • Know and understand the federal, state and local laws which govern trucking.
    • Introduce customers to Miller personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of company operations and assist with implementation and account management after the contracts are executed.
    • Assist the Company's staff in the collection of accounts receivable for assigned customers.

    You Have:

    • New business development experience
    • Experience in the transportation and/or trucking industry
    • College Degree or equivalent work experience
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • The ability to meet and exceed minimum sales quota
    • Experience doing new business development in the Dedicated Trucking space is ideal
