    Qualifications


    • Master's degree in psychology, social work, school psychology or another related field required
    • Valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential required
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal) required
    • Experience working with English language learners
    • Experience serving students with Special Needs in a K-8 bilingual setting
    • Ability to handle confidential information discretely and professionally
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in an urban setting or in a charter school setting
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
    • Ability to use discretion and exercise sound judgment
    • Critical thinker and problem-solver
    • Effective oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Ability to exercise appropriate initiative and work independently
    • Strong organizational and time management skills

    Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) is a community of high-performing public schools that utilizes a comprehensive approach to prepare students from preschool through high school for success in college and in life.

    Founded in 2000, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy students represent the neighborhood of MacArthur Park west of downtown Los Angeles, a community that is one of the most under-resourced and densely populated neighborhoods in Los Angeles.

    Currently, CNCA has six campuses that serve approximately 3,500 students from TK through 12th grade.

    The Opportunity


    The School Psychologist will help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally through valid and timely assessment and high-quality Individualized Education Program documents and reports.

    They will collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community for all students.

    The School Psychologist will work with children across sites in grades PK through 12th.

    Essential Functions


    • Practice in ways that meet all appropriate ethical, professional, and legal standards
    • Understand and apply federal, state, and local policies and regulations in the delivery of school psychological services
    • Maintain confidentiality of student records and information
    • Establish and maintain expertise in using technology such as data management and report writing. (Proficiency in Welligent is preferred)
    • Demonstrate knowledge of school and classroom climates and use such knowledge to assist in developing classroom interventions
    • Demonstrate knowledge regarding the social, affective, and adaptive domains of child development
    • Collaborate with others to develop appropriate cognitive and academic goals for students with different abilities, disabilities, strengths, needs, and develop interventions to achieve these goals
    • Assess students' cognitive abilities using a variety of instruments and techniques that are appropriate for the individual student
    • Apply sound principles of data-based decision making to all aspects of practice (e.g., designing intervention, monitoring student progress, consulting with school administrators
    • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work, communicate, and collaborate effectively with teachers, other school staff, and families as part of a team within the school setting
    • Provide direct services to individuals or groups of students (e.g., counseling, crisis interventions, mentoring, and individual safety plans, when appropriate)
    • Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and the individualized education program (IEP) committee contributing to evaluation findings and collaborating on the child's education plan
    • Submit records, reports and IEP documents promptly and efficiently
    • Deals with obstacles and constraints positively
    • Maintains compliant IEPS, including service tracking and reports progress accordingly to parents and team members
    • Commit to continual professional growth
    • May be required to participate in grade level team meetings, faculty meetings, intervention and Student Success Team Meetings
    • Other duties as assigned
