    Description

    One of our premier clients is looking for a Linux System Administrator to come in and collaborate with the team to ensure continued success. This person will need to be knowledgeable enough to make technical recommendations to the team as well as have the communication skills to champion those ideas.

    *This position is contract to hire, and fully onsite to start at the client's office in Glen Allen, VA. Will go to hybrid once hired candidate is acclimated to the role*

    Must Haves:

    - Experience in RHEL 8.

    - NFS (Network File System) experience

    - Bash scripting experience

    - Experience writing scripts

    - Experience with Red Hat Satellite and patching

    - Ansible experience

    Responsibilities:

    This person will manage multiple Linux based systems.

      \t
    • Implementing all Linux applications and documenting procedures;
      \t
    • Coordinating hardware and software installations and upgrades;
      \t
    • Maintaining software patches for both security and systems stability;
      \t
    • Monitoring system performance and capacity;
      \t
    • Completing performance tuning and optimization activities on an ongoing basis;
      \t
    • Performing backup and recovery on Linux systems;
      \t
    • Providing third-level support for the client's MIS Helpdesk;
      \t
    • Training team members as directed.
    Minimum Requirements:
      \t
    • Five years or more of enterprise level Red Hat Systems Administrator experience (Red Hat 7 and 8);
      \t
    • Two years or more working Red Hat 8 and its related technologies;
      \t
    • Five years or more of scripting (shell, Perl) at an advanced level and with a focus on automation of tasks;
      \t
    • Strong knowledge of C programming language or similar;
      \t
    • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking;
      \t
    • Experience with HPE hardware (DL380 series) preferred;
      \t
    • Experience with VMware virtualization technologies, specifically with virtual machine life cycle management within vCenter preferred;
      \t
    • Must have experience with NAS and SAN technologies, preferably Cohesity, Racktop, NetApp, and/or Pure;
      \t
    • Must be able to build servers utilizing scripts or other tools specific to Red Hat;
      \t
    • Strong experience with Red Hat Satellite including installation, configuration, management, and systems patching;
      \t
    • Experience using HPE iLO for remote management/administration;
      \t
    • Experience with backup and recovery procedures a must (especially familiarity with Veeam as a plus);
      \t
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
      \t
    • Good communication skills;
      \t
    • Excellent documentation skills;
      \t
    • Must be willing to learn Reality/Universe/PICK;
      \t
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, including cross-training peers on Linux systems in support capacities;
      \t
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
      \t
    • Experience with Unix/Solaris is a plus;
      \t
    • Familiarity with additional flavors of Linux such as Debian, Ubuntu, and CentOS are a plus;
      \t
    • Experience with cloud-based solutions, particularly Azure, is a plus;
      \t
    • Willingness to learn other technologies handled in the Systems and Infrastructure Team including but not limited to SAN/NAS Administration, virtualization, Windows server deployment, PowerShell scripting, etc.
