Order Processing Engineer
Job Type Full-time Description
**Summary:**
Our Order Processing Team processes all orders by creating and/or interpreting manufacturing drawings, creating manufacturing instructions, and generating an accurate bill of materials for production to assure accuracy, to reduce scrap and errors, and to enable an exceptional customer experience. This critical role partners with various Metal-Era departments such as: Engineering, Production, Sales, Customer Service, Accounting, IT, Scheduling, Inventory, and Shipping, in the best interest of delivering the SPEQ Promise, and strengthening customer relationships with Metal-Era.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**. *This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive, and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management deems necessary. Candidates must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed, with or without reasonable accommodation.*
**Technical Acumen**
Fully understand the impact and source of processing errors and non-conformance issues, and take ownership of errors and immediately work to disclose and correct them.
Create, review and coordinate manufacturing drawings, interpret prints, understand sales and purchase orders, and read quotes to prepare for accurate, efficient, and timely order processing.
Assure all bill of materials documents, print approvals, sales orders, and shop drawings and instructions are created accurately for manufacturing.
For all Order Processing, attain proficiency in the order processing process, systems, and software programs. Begin to build basic proficiency in advanced and custom programs, including without limit: Engineerings PCS, Excel, SAGE, Quote to Shop, RADAN and Inventory-Viewer.
*For advanced roles on our Custom Order Processing Team, employees will be exposed to AutoCAD, and SolidEdge programs.*

Requirements
**Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:**
*The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of this position. Metal-Era will always consider candidates that have an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.*
A high-school diploma is required; plus at least 2+ years successful experience in a position that requires a strong attention to detail, and the demonstrated ability to compare/contrast documentation or materials lists for accuracy.
Advanced mathematical skills, with the proven ability to accurately measure and calculate to the 1/32nd of an inch.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; including the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in-writing with customers, and internally at all levels of the organization.
Proven proficiency using office hardware (computers, laptops, printers, and fax machines) is required.
Strong computing skills, including intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Intermediate-to-advanced level proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
Demonstrate ability to problem-solve in standardized scenarios involving several concrete variables.
The proven ability to effectively resolve interpersonal conflicts, and/or problems with customers, in a professional and efficient manner is preferred.
Proven history of dedication and accuracy in completed work products.

While not required for this role, a technical diploma/certificate or an associates degree involving some level of manufacturing drawing interpretation, drafting, or engineering is preferred. Candidates looking to advance in the department over time will be required to have a basic proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidEdge - training may be provided internally for the right candidates.
Advanced mathematical studies in high school or college, including trigonometry, are preferred.
**Physical Demands:**
While most of the work is completed while seated at a desk and facing a computer, the employee is regularly required to stand and/or walk, including regular visits to the manufacturing shop floor. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, crouch, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up-to 40 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk and hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

**Work Environment:**
The position is primarily an office-based position with regular visits to the plant floor, with exposure to light-to-moderate manufacturing noise. The incumbent occasionally performs work-related travel, less than 10% of the time. The role is primarily scheduled weekdays, and during first-shift hours; however, some projects and initiatives may require the flexibility to occasionally work on weekends or during second-shift hours.
