The Department of Psychology and Communication at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) seeks an Assistant Professor of Psychology of Social Psychology (tenure-track, 9-month position) to begin Fall . Duties include teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses and serving on departmental, university, and professional committees. A reduced load (2-2 for the first two years) is provided to allow the new hire to focus on publishing research in psychology or closely related areas,

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate must hold an earned doctorate in Psychology or Social Psychology. ABDs will also be considered but must have earned a doctorate before appointment. Our department offers extensive opportunities for bilingual-bicultural research, and we would especially welcome candidates whose research closely aligns with this. However, strong scholars across all areas of social psychology (for example, but not limited to, attitudes and social influence, judgement and decision making, self and social identity, stereotypes and prejudice, prosocial behavior, individual differences, and evolutionary social psychology) will be fully considered.

We desire candidates who: have a strong record of or potential for sustained publication in peer- reviewed journals (commensurate with experience), have the potential for or prior experience with seeking and/or securing external grant funding, have a strong desire to work with student populations, and have the ability to teach in areas that complement or strengthen our undergraduate and graduate psychology programs.
