    Assistant Auditor Internal Audit I - Grant Compliance

    Definition

    The Assistant Auditor Internal Audit 1 reports to and works independently under the general direction of the County Auditor and Internal Audit Lead.

    This position's primary function is grant compliance and, in times of availability, will participate in duties outlined below.

    Job Duties
    Duties include, but are not limited to:

    Regular daily and timely attendance
    Handles monthly, quarterly, or annual reporting for all federal, state, local, and non-profit grants.
    Assists accounts payable to verify payments made using grant funds are in compliance with grant contracts.
    Assists elected officials and offices to determine the proper disposition of assets acquired with grant dollars.
    Responsible for cross training other personnel in grant compliance
    Stays current on all grant changes including CSCD and Juvenile
    All other grant related functions
    Office Audits and Bank Reconciliation Audits
    Under supervision, participate in performing:

    Quarterly office audits of each office as defined in the Texas Statutes
    Monthly bank reconciliation audits
    Education, Experience, or Certification
    Five (5) years of verifiable professional experience in accounting, or finance in public/municipal organizations is preferred.
    Associate degree or higher or equivalent experience.
    Nine hours of college accounting or equivalent experience. Working knowledge of MS Office products.
    Additional years of experience will be accepted in place of required coursework.
    WORKING KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE WITH 2CFR200 IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION.
    This job operates in a professional office environment which supports a pleasant, professional and team-oriented environment. Regular on-time attendance is essential to achieving the department's goals.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear

    . This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
    Optional Achievements Required for Salary Increases – To be paid at the beginning of the next budget year. Only one type of achievement may be worked on at a time. All pay increases are subject to District Court approval. Incentive items below are in addition to a COLA based on the previous year inflation rate .
    Completion of 32 hours of approved continuing education (Hours to obtain a certification cannot be used for this increase)
    Each year a performance review will be done after the annual budget has been approved. The performance review will examine if you have met the education goals and improvements outlined in the previous year. Also evaluated will be production, error rate, attitude, and team performance.
