Job Description

Kiski School seeks a head coach for its varsity boys basketball program to begin in the season. Kiski offers a highly competitive basketball program. Many Kiski graduates go on to play in college. While the basketball season is in the winter, the program runs year-round with practices and some tournaments in the fall season, and open gym and occasional practices in the spring season.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Organizing and leading daily practices for the team Monday-Friday while in season. And organizing and leading occasional off season practices in the fall and winter seasons.
• Transporting, coaching, and supervising the team during all home and away competitions while complying with all Kiski School and PAISSA rules and regulations
• Working with individual team members to assess their strengths and weaknesses and offer personalized improvement plans
• Strategically preparing the team for games and tournaments
• Developing and fostering a culture of teamwork, sportsmanship, scholarship, and character
• Working closely with the Athletic Director on scheduling, logistics, and communications with players, parents, and opposing teams.
• In coordination with the Admissions Office, speak with prospective students who have an interest in basketball, and share insights about the school's team, facilities, and opportunities for growth. Help prospective students understand the benefits of joining the Kiski basketball program.
• In coordination with the College Counseling Office, assist juniors and seniors in their college search process and help them identify opportunities to continue playing basketball at the college level.
• Travel, including on some weekends, to tournaments around the region and the state will be required.

Qualifications:

• Experience as a head coach on the high school level, or as an assistant or head coach on the college level
• Experience in helping student-athletes with their college search and with college placement
• The ability to promote Kiski's basketball program to potential student athletes interested in the School
• Exceptional organizational abilities
• A commitment to developing sportsmanship, character, and respect among young people
• Must possess a valid driver's license and successfully pass a background check
